Museum Cooling Resilience via 1300kWh IceBat Cold Battery System

Application

A nominal capacity 1,300kWh ICEBAT Cold Battery energy storage system has been installed at the Brusk Museum in Briges, Belgium.

This installation, within the important resilience-based application sector, provides an innovative and efficient Cold Battery System to deliver resilient/stand by cooling capacity for this critical museum application.

The cold thermal energy storage project was initiated to meet the specific needs regarding the security and conservation of the museum’s artworks. The ICEBAT Cold Battery ice storage system was chosen for its high level of performance in the following areas:

Safety in case of cooling unit failure: In the event of a breakdown or malfunction of the main cooling systems, the ICEBAT ensures optimal temperature maintenance, thus ensuring the protection of the artworks.

Humidity and temperature control: Art conservation is extremely sensitive to humidity and temperature variations. The ICEBAT maintains stable and ideal conditions for the preservation of the exhibits.

Equipment Schedule

  • IceBat storage system model: ICEBAT Fafco UW
  • IceBat Cold Battery capacity: 1285 kWh
PURE EFFICIENCY | PURE SUSTAINABILITY | PURE SAVINGS

Summary

This application is a great example of a demanding project where the conventional method of delivering cooling was significantly improved by the inclusion of IceBat Cold Battery system.

This application demonstrates the commitment of Fafco to provide reliable, high-quality cold thermal energy storage solutions tailored to the clients’ most critical needs.

In practical terms the IceBat unit applied has the capability to operate on a standalone basis in order to provide 100% resilient standby cooling capacity whilst also providing additional peak summer temperature cooling duty to support the installed cooling plant.
