This nominal capacity 2,900kWh IceBat Cold Battery Thermal Energy Storage system has been installed at the Cochin Regional Hospital in Southern Paris providing primary cooling to the facility.

This installation, within the resilience & peak demand cold battery application sector, provides an innovative and efficient Cold Battery System to deliver primary cooling capacity to the Hospital.

Internal Climate & Temperature control is essential and critical within Hospitals and Healthcare facilities in order to prevent overheating issues and to maintain a steady environment.

In this application the IceBat is a critical component within the cooling system design providing primary daytime peak demand capacity charged overnight by the incumbent chillers.

  1. Hospitals must maintain internal temperatures to avoid overheating issues and this is exactly where the IceBat delivers by providing additional cooling capacity during the 13.00 to 17.00 peak daytime demand period.
  2. Additional cooling duty is provided by the Ice bat Cold Battery to support the cooling system plant during peak periods as well as providing resilient/standby cooling capacity 365 days per year.
  3. The IceBat also importantly reduces carbon emissions and achieves energy cost savings by using flex tariff/low cost/low carbon input electricity to re charge, this means that cooling capacity can be produced during the most optimal cost & carbon saving periods.

For these reasons the IceBat Cold Battery is a practical and sensible option which provides on demand cooling for several hours per day and recharged by the incumbent chillers overnight.

This type of operation also minimises the required chiller capacity and it’s associated electrical supply which delivers significant savings for the user.
